Architectural Evaluation

Designing a home from an architectural standpoint is sometimes referred to as a work of art. Architects want the home design to reflect their creativity and expertise. Integrating smart concepts with the roof design may be complicated and difficult depending on the weather conditions where the home is constructed. We work with architects on a regular basis to educate them on problem areas with roof designs in colder climates. Through our experience, we understand how to design roofs that function very well in severe weather conditions, but still look amazing. We’re happy to meet for lunch-and-learns to get this information to you. Please contact our office to coordinate something that may help with your plans.

Design Consultation

Once you made some progress on the construction with your project you will want to have an on-site visit to look at the details of the roof. At this stage in your project, it's good to have one of our team members design the heat cable system. We do this for many contractors, electricians, roofers and even homeowners. Before going into a heat cable decision, get some advice from our experts. We understand where the heat cable needs to be placed and how the system should be set up to function optimally. This could save you from having headaches down the road.

Preplanning

Is your home still in the planning stages or not yet started? This is the perfect time to consider where to place electrical for heat cable. We offer estimates based on your plans, providing recommendations for the best locations to run power before construction begins, saving you the hassle and cost of changes later.

Effective roof design is crucial to prevent ice dams. Ensure proper installation of ice and water shields, adequate attic ventilation, and correct flashing in constrained areas. When planning slip edge installations, choose materials that can accommodate heat cables in the future. Also, decide on the type of roof you'll install and remember that controlling water is key to minimizing damage.

If you're building, plan ahead to avoid costly mistakes. As Benjamin Franklin said, “If you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail.” We’re here to help!

HOA/MDU Building Inspections

Are you responsible for the management of a neighborhood or multi-dwelling housing units? We’ll work with you to get the entire area taken care of. If you’re not sure how to begin or what is needed, call our office, that's why we're here. Multi-dwelling housing units and HOA’s can often be very complex. Understanding who is responsible for what is key. Organizing the heat cable systems in accordance with multiple buildings, with independent owners, is nearly impossible to get the group to agree. We get it! Our heat cable estimate and installation teams are ready and willing to take on the task. We have worked on several HOAs in multi-dwelling housing units with phenomenal success.

Electrical Planning

Planning and coordinating the electrical work for your house can be complex, and it is often one of the most overlooked steps in designing a heat cable system. Heat cables require a substantial amount of electricity to operate effectively, so understanding their limitations is crucial for proper power placement. It’s always easier to install electrical circuits before the sheetrock is up rather than after the home is complete. Several aspects need to be considered in the design, such as wire size, the number of dedicated circuits required, available space in the electrical panel, optimal placement for the heat cable controller, and installation of the GFCI. Consulting with one of our professionals can save you thousands of dollars in the long run, as shortcuts in this area can lead to costly mistakes.

Heat Cable Evaluations

While our heat cable is built to last, not all cable will stand the test of time. There are sometimes outside reasons why your cable might not be functioning optimally. We have the knowledge on how to track it down. We’ll come out and inspect your cable and provide an overall evaluation. Sometimes rodents or scuffs might cause the cable to deteriorate more quickly. If any damage to the outer shell has occurred, it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. We have gone out and fixed numerous heat cable situations that were not done right the first time. That’s why it’s important to hire a professional heat cable installer. There’s more to know than many people realize.
